Mission

Our goal as pediatric and preventative dentists is to work toward eliminating the #1 disease in the world; together we can make this happen.

We want your child to have a pleasant, fun and memorable visit to the dentist. Our office uses modern, updated techniques and equipment to treat your children effectively and gently.

Procedures and instruments are introduced to your child in non-intimidating terms they can understand. It is also very important to us that your children have a good time! Our one of a kind open hygiene area is equipped with a basketball goal, multiple touch screen computer games and a waterfall ecosystem to keep your children entertained. Younger kids will enjoying listening to "Toofy" the talking shark, and "Hip and Hop" the talking frogs tell their amazing tales from the Bluebonnet Swamp!

Policies

At Smile Stars Pediatric Dentistry, we make every attempt to schedule appointments at your convenience and limit absences from school. After school hours are available upon request, but are subject to availability. Appointment times are designed to fit your child's specific needs. Younger children and special needs patients are typically scheduled in the early morning when they are alert and more cooperative. Children receiving extensive treatment and sedation appointments are also preferably scheduled in the morning. This allows parents more time during the day to address any concerns and make sure their child is comfortable after the appointment. We will be happy to provide their school with a letter explaining the absence and necessary dental treatment.

Because appointed times are reserved exclusively for each patient, we ask that you please notify our office 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep your appointment. We realize that unexpected things can and do happen, but would appreciate the earliest notification possible. This allows us to inform other patients in need of care of the opening.

Parents are invited to accompany their child for a tour of our office during the initial examination. We also allow parents to accompany their child during the visit if they are under the age of 2, if they are a special needs patient, or during a severe emergency visit. During regular visits, we encourage parents to allow children to enter the hygiene/treatment area alone. It is our experience that children typically behave better when their parents are not present, and thus tend to have a more positive experience. This arrangement also allows the doctor and staff to communicate with your child directly and build trust. If we feel that your presence might benefit your child, we will ask you to join us in the hygiene area. We are willing to make accommodations under special circumstances, but these appointments will need to be scheduled during specific times of the day. Please let our receptionist know if you request special accommodations. During sedation, patients are under the strict care of our doctors. A member of our highly trained staff will remain with the patient and monitor them at all times. No parents are allowed to observe at this time due to safety concerns. Remember, if you expect your child to do well and enjoy their visit to our office, chances are they will do just that!
